Training to Race Day
Our budding young jockeys had a great day at Overton Farm on 23rd March. We took four jockeys, two grooms, ponies Fruity and Tattie and and thoroughbred Class ridden by Lori. The ponies went extremely well (considering their breeding) and by the third race they gave Class a run for his money! A fantastic day enjoyed by all and hugely educational in all respects for our young riders and grooms.
Fundraising – Bingo, Tarot Reading and Afternoon Tea
Our Employability Group prepared and organised this fun fundraising event on 1st March which included bingo, tarot card readings and afternoon tea. They each gained their SCQF Personal Development Level 3 Award and raised an awesome £370 which will go towards supporting further Employability projects and our Training to Race Day. As his Personal Challenge, Scott Harrison took on the role of bingo caller and made it hugely entertaining for all!

Trip to Ayr Races
Team Fossilfield had a fantastic day at Ayr Races on 24th February for an educational trip as part of our Exploring Careers Topic. The Gallop Club met Peter Scudamore who shared his wisdom as a jockey and the Employability Group met Poppy the Harris Hawk who attends to ward off unwanted gulls ensuring spectators enjoy their day. Everyone had a wonderful time experiencing or learning something new and now appreciate why their roles at Fossilfield are important.
